Water
Water is an invaluable resource as it is provided only by the rain.
Each home on Saba is equipped with a cistern to collect and store its own private supply of rain water. Please conserve water.
Actually, all forms of water conservation prevail here in the islands. All Saban homes, hotels, and guest cottages obtain water for drinking and washing from cisterns that trap rainwater. You will be happy to know that, unlike many other popular tourism destinations, the tap water here is pure and delicious. There is also a double-filtration process in place at the Daphne.

Saba Trivia
Sure, it's a big mountain with outrageous terrain. So much so, that the original King Kong movie from the 1930's used Saba's silhouette as the backdrop in the beginning for King Kong's "Skull Island" home.
They even filmed some of King Kong's jungle scenes here on Saba (Umm, yeah, it took us 3 years of "living here" to find out that those references about King Kong's home had a good reason).
Now, I can't confirm that actress Fay Wray or directors Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack actually stepped foot on Saba. But, I'm still asking around and trying to find out where they actually filmed those jungle scenes.
I've also been told that film actress Lauren Bacall actually spent a weekend here and stayed in the cottage just a few years ago. Allegedly there's a picture somewhere documenting her visit to Saba but I've yet to lay eyes on it.
