Joel I can definitely see why you and Heather love this cottage! Where do I start? The cottage is just enough room. Perfect for the three of us. Only a short walk down the hill to town, views of the ocean to the left and right, looking down into the village. I must confess I did a little shopping in your yard too. I am a sucker for good lime juice and your trees were bursting with fruit ... so all week I was drinking limeade.
The food was amazing. We ate BBQ at Swinging Doors (Eddie & Pat are wonderful), dinner at Scouts ... and the Ecolodge was awesome (we hiked up and took a cab down - it started pouring)... we ate lunch every day at In Two Deep down at the docks. And, we had breakfast at the cottage. I could not believe that Eddie's BBQ was only $10!! We had a great dinner for $28 including beers!
Because we were so delayed in arriving (Nor'easter hit New England the day we left) we only did 9 dives over 3 days. It was definitely not enough. I have not seen reefs, animal life and scenery like that in years. I loved the Diamond Rock dive. We could hear whales on every dive. We saw turtles every day. Sharks, rays. Nothing was afraid of us.
The flowers and such and the topography was gorgeous too. I have never learned so much as I did this past week. Our cab driver would stop and tell us all about the trees, the history of the island, everything you could imagine. He also talked about what local recipes there are for all the fruits and such in the trees. I had soursop ice cream while I was there - and Jack fruit too. And, I have to admit the goats and sheep and even the iguanas were really cool. Unfortunately, we ran out of time before we could get up Mt. Scenery. We will definitely "do" Mt. Scenery on the next trip. Oh, we'll be back.
The dive shop was great. Big Mike was hilarious. He was full of stories and adventures. Steve (Giles) was our dive master and he did a wonderful job. Little Mike and Saba Deep were just fabulous. Mike (Myers) made sure we got to the island even though we were delayed. He made sure we had rides whenever necessary and even made our dinner plans. I have not seen service from a dive shop like this in years!!! And, we take multiple dive vacations every year!"

"What truly blew me away about the island - like you warned us. I felt like I was home. In the short amount of time I was there I learned all the locals names and they knew me. Folks never passed by without saying hello and asking us how we were enjoying paradise.
We stopped into the Saba Day Spa too. Sally does an incredible job on aching muscles! Ahhhh...

We almost don't want to tell people how much we enjoyed just so that it can retain its quiet charm. Absolutely wonderful! We would like to return to Daphne's Cottage and Saba soon!

We both appreciate Caribbean vernacular architecture so we noticed all of the details you have maintained (Barney restores homes in Barbados and I'm a Caribbean historian). "Daphne's is the perfect place for us to be with all the family around in Windwardside. We stayed outside of Windwardside last time and were annoyed at not being able to walk everywhere - never again. Daphne's is the perfect location!!
Although I had no problem before dealing with the humidity, still soooo glad you have AC - will be perfect for a comfortable sleep. We'll be back for Carnival next year!"
